As many of you know, I started university in London this year September, and it will be my first time I will be missing on many celebrations and festivities which I usually celebrate back home.
The first festivity I will be missing this year will be Diwali, the most beautiful time of the year back home where everyone has done a fantastic job with their decoration, and it’s my favourite too since childhood.
I remember the one time I cried so much because there was not much of the light decoration in our house because everyone felt it’s enough, but I didn’t feel right and cried threw a tantrum to the point where I decided to not celebrate the Diwali. Guess what who came to the rescue my one and only superman my dad he bought a load of lights that night and made sure I am happy again .. I miss those days.
Every year we will have significant cleaning days before Diwali as we come closer, it keeps getting busier because either some sort of renovation is taking place or guests visiting every day.
I miss the delicious food and sweets we would get to eat which I generally don't bother to ask because I am always busy looking at western food delicacies but this time I want my homemade food.

This year I am not home with my family going crazy to make sure we all are ready, to perform the puja or to see how beautiful will be the Rangoli which is made by my sister who always kills it with our house décor and Rangoli.

Will be missing those times when my cousins will come, and we all play tambola or cards which goes on forever …then the after Diwali madness where we can finally open the gifts which have received this year.
You realise how much you love your family and all these festivities when you don’t get to be there because honestly when I was home, I would crib about how annoying the day is getting and how much I want it to end but today I just want to be with them.
With this moving country thing, I have learned some valuable lessons like don't take advantage of time and stop cribbing about everything in life because once it's taken away from you will realise the value of it, stop taking advantage of your parents by not spending time with them when you are home.
So I want to end this on a happy note by saying embrace every day when you home and be grateful to everything you get in life.
Wishing you a Happy Diwali and Prosperous New Year.
