Weekend Trip to Cambridge

It was early in the morning when the alarm started ringing it was still dark outside, but it was time to wake up and freshen up so that we could leave for the train station, wondering where we are heading? Don’t worry in some time it all be revealed...

As I was getting ready, I could see some light outside the window and then I made myself a cup of coffee to start my day so that I could wake up from my half dead mind.

I got my bag ready with essentials; wallet, water, book, headphone, portable charger, gloves etc. I wore my comfiest jacket with my grey hoodie with my skinny legging paired up with Nike jogging shoes (the best footwear to wear if living in the United Kingdom).

I left my place for St Pancreas king cross station where we have to catch our train for the destination, the station was buzzing with so many people as it was the weekend people were going away or coming to central.

While I was waiting for my friend to come, I decided to go and collect our tickets from the counter. After receiving the cards, I saw the time it was near impossible to catch this train we were first planning to go on because my friend hasn’t reached yet so after checking the train timetable we decided to find the next train which was at 11:45.

Finally, my friend reached but we had some time to kill so we went and picked some food from Pret for the journey which was only for 2 hours from central London.

After waiting for a while, we checked the board I saw the train has arrived at the platform and then we headed for the platform and boarded. The two-hour journey just flew by as we were talking and catching up with each other.

We have arrived in the beautiful Cambridge, I really wanted to come here and explore the countryside of Cambridgeshire which is famously known for its university.

Before visiting the place, we did our research for things to do and not, after deciding the first place was the Fitzwilliam Museum is the art and antiquities museum of the University of Cambridge, founded in 1816, the Fitzwilliam Museum includes one of the best collections of antiquities and modern art in western Europe.

Walking around Cambridge and realising how peaceful it is compared to central London was just making me more and more happy after the museum we were headed to fitzbillies bakery which is one of the “Must Go” places in Cambridge for its delicious desserts and coffee as we enter the café it was full it was clear this place definitely has some great goods.

We didn’t find any place to sit in the café, so we got our desserts packed I went for the chocolate tart, and my friend took the chocolate eclairs, as we were walking we dived into our sweets I ate my pie which was just amazing.

The Second activity for the day which is “MUST Do” in Cambridge is punting along the river which looks over a lot of universities and many more places, bare in my mind it is winter time so you can imagine how fun the punting experience was.

After the river ride we were hungry, and it was almost lunchtime, so we pop into the pub “The Punt Yard” which was very cosy little café /pub, after ordering the food we started playing Jenga they had quite few game options for the people which is really nice way of waiting instead getting busy on your phone we played few rounds of Jenga.

The lunch was lovely I opted for a salad meal which was fresh and healthy with a glass of wine that gave an excellent touch to end the meal, by the time lunch was over it was already 4 so we decided to walk around Cambridge click some pictures.

Clicked some pictures then we started heading towards the train station, but we started looking around small homegrown brands and bought postcards to remember this weekend adventure.

Reached the station to head back home and we almost missed our train, but we ran like mad and catch the train …again the two-hour journey just flew by, but this time I dozed off.

Finally, home. It was a really well spent Sunday with my best friend.

Tell me your favourite place to visit in the UK? And Why? If I visit that place what all I should do?

Hoping to hear from you guys 

Toodles
